Wear-Wash-Fold-Repeat

If you’re anything like me, you had to learn how to do laundry once you got to college. Now, let me tell yall a little something, when you share a laundry room with an entire dorm, be prepared to lose some of your laundry. I couldn’t tell you how many socks I lost to the hungry machines or they ended up accidentally in someone else’s pile. Or the number of times I found clothing that was not mine in my laundry when I would try to be responsible and fold it. I lived right down the hall from the laundry room and it was always busy, and at all hours too. But it wasn’t all bad. I mean, it smelled nice because of all of the dryer sheets that were being used. And for the clothes you wash, seriously be sure to read the cleaning labels. My mom wrote down instructions for how to wash all the different things that make up my closet. Did I happen to lose that piece of paper within the first month or two of classes…yes…but don’t tell her I said that. Unless you have the color catching sheets, don’t wash the reds with the whites. I can’t tell you from personal experience what happens, but I am pretty sure we all know the outcome because it’s the one thing that goes wrong when laundry is done in the movies. But, I do know what it is like to be in the middle of class and get a text message from a random number, telling you that your laundry is done. And well, there clearly isn’t anything you can do when you find yourself facing a potential fine cause you thought you set the timer for an hour right before you leave for a 50-minute class. Luckily, I would make it by the skin of my teeth and never get fined. But, all I can say is read the labels, know when to use what and which things go in the dryer (the baby Huey look is not to cute my friends). Just a piece of advice I learned (probably from my mom if I am being honest) put a cup of vinegar in each load to cut down on the odor that can cling to your clothes. Pretty sure my mom figured that one out because my brothers and I would have some of the nastiest smelling work out clothes when we were in high school because of practice (soccer, cross-country, track, volleyball). Believe you me, it really does work! And to you all, I say good luck and don’t mix your reds with your whites.

I relate to this so much! Freshman year was the first time I consistently really washed my own clothes. I did the same things with washing something colored with my white soccer socks and they turned pinkish! There was also so many times I had to do laundry and in burt you couldn't after 10 so I couldn't which was probably the worse part!

I dont have any of the clothes I wore freshman and sophomore year because I didn't pay attention to the labels and I made them shrink 2 sizes. I wish I could have known more sooner haha.

Very relatable! I live in college view and If I don't watch my close then they could very easily be miss-placed. I love your blog and think it is a great idea. Especially since I am about to graduate. The idea of becoming an adult can be scary but it can be doable.

Great post and very relatable as well. This has happen to me plenty of times and I hate it because I hate losing my socks. I learned how to do laundry before I came to college so I won't be in that predictament. I loved this post and was smiling the whole entire reading this.
